Good morning from a very rainy Florida. Today I want to talk about what could be a turning point in the trade war with China. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just helped broker a major pause in the tariff war, dropping the effective rate on Chinese goods from a painful 145% down to 30%. The markets celebrated hard yesterday—and for good reason. But the real question is: is this just a pause, or the beginning of something bigger? I’ve got friends asking, “Why go through all that, just to end up right where we started?” But I don’t think that’s fair. The truth is, we don’t know where we’ve landed yet. Bessent himself called this a pause. And with more meetings scheduled with Chinese officials, there’s a lot still in motion. One thing is clear, though: cooler heads are starting to prevail—and that’s a good thing. Don’t get me wrong—I still believe China is our biggest geopolitical threat. I support strategic decoupling in key areas like pharmaceuticals and AI. But total decoupling is fantasy. And trying to rebuild America’s manufacturing base in a world where even China is automating? That’s not a strategy—it’s nostalgia. What’s encouraging is the shift to more pragmatic trade leadership. Bessent understands the stakes: rare earths, semiconductors, national security. I’m cautiously optimistic, and I think we should all be relieved this didn’t spiral further. That said, we’re not out of the woods yet. Good morning everyone — it’s Dylan Jovine here with Behind The Markets. In today’s video, I’m diving into something that’s been on my mind a lot lately: the state of our air traffic control system. After watching Treasury Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s press conference, I couldn’t believe some of what I was hearing. When you’ve got the CEOs of United, Delta, American, and JetBlue all standing there, plus bipartisan support from folks like Ted Cruz and Senator Tammy Duckworth — you know this issue is front and center. What really got me was Duffy pointing out that some of our radar equipment looks like it belongs on the set of Apollo 13 or in the Smithsonian. And he’s right. Last week, Newark Airport had a complete communications failure for 90 seconds, and if you can imagine sitting in an air traffic control tower when that happens… it’s terrifying. That’s exactly why this upgrade is long overdue — and it’s going to cost a fortune, somewhere north of $40 billion. Now here’s where it gets interesting for us as investors. I’ve had my eye on a microcap stock trading around $2 that’s developing the kind of surveillance software this country desperately needs. Even better, one of the biggest tech firms in the world — Palantir — owns a big stake in it. I’ve been talking about this company for six months because I truly believe it’s one of those rare opportunities where a small player, backed by a giant, could make serious moves as this national overhaul kicks off. Dylan Jovine | The $2 Stock Backed by Palantir That Could Ride a $40 Billion Boom

Man, TGIF has never felt more real. I took my son to the Marlins vs. Dodgers game last night — Shohei Ohtani was in town, and we weren’t gonna miss that. Traffic, late night, all of it... so I definitely needed an extra boost this morning. But before heading into the weekend, I wanted to hop on and share a quick market overview and how I'm looking at everything right now. We’ve seen some decent recovery in the markets since Trump announced his “Liberation Day” tariffs back in April. Some people are saying everything’s fine now — that the worst is behind us. And look, maybe it is. But I’m not wired to be blindly optimistic or pessimistic. I’m wired to look at the facts, and frankly, I see both positives and big risks right now. A trade deal with the UK? That’s a win. Bessent talking to China? Also a win. Strong AI earnings from Microsoft, Meta, Amazon? Definitely a good sign. But let’s not kid ourselves — even if tariffs are rolled back to 50%, that’s still the biggest tax hike since the ’60s. That’s not nothing. Billionaire Paul Tudor Jones made some comments that hit home with me — he thinks we’ll still hit new lows, and I agree. These rallies feel very retail-driven, and history tells us that bear market bounces don’t always mean we’re out of the woods. I've lived through that kind of market before, and it ended with big opportunities — but also a lot of pain for people who weren’t prepared. So no, I’m not calling the top or the bottom. I’m just saying — be realistic. Don’t buy into the euphoria. Don’t panic either. Let’s keep our eyes open, stay smart, and be patient.
