US Gov Pushing to Pay for Drugs like Ozempic

Good morning, everyone! Dylan Jovine here from Behind the Markets. Happy Tuesday! Today, I want to dive into the exciting world of weight loss drugs and their huge potential. Last week, there was a big development in the news: Medicare and Medicaid are starting to seriously consider covering GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, which is a game-changer. These drugs, made by Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, have already exploded in popularity, and we were early to spot this trend. We recommended stocks like Altimmune, Viking Therapeutics, Eli Lilly, and Novo Nordisk a couple of years ago, and our early predictions have paid off with massive returns—up 200-300% on some of those picks! What’s even more exciting is that we believe we’re just getting started. The first wave of GLP-1 drug stocks did well, but we’ve been sitting back for the past year to see how the market would develop. Now, we’re reintroducing a second wave of compelling stocks in the weight loss drug space. The potential here is enormous. Morgan Stanley estimates that the number of GLP-1 treatments could surpass 250 million doses per year, which would make it larger than Lipitor, Viagra, and Metformin combined. This is a massive blockbuster in the making. Obesity-related healthcare costs are a huge burden on the U.S. medical system, and these drugs could help reduce those costs significantly. The government recognizes this, which is why Medicare is now looking to back these treatments. By investing in these weight loss drugs, the government could save billions of dollars on obesity-related healthcare expenses. For example, if a person’s yearly medical costs due to obesity are $5,000, but a GLP-1 drug costs $3,000, that’s a $2,000 saving per person. With numbers like that, it’s no wonder why this is such a huge opportunity.
