Today I want to talk about something a little lighter than usual…

The time Donald Trump flipped me off.

I was at dinner this weekend, talking to a friend of mine who also grew up in Queens, swapping stories…

And you know, everyone wants to talk these days about “the time they met Trump.”

So my Trump story is a little funny. And this friend reads our stuff, subscribes to all our services…

He’s an Alliance member.

And he watches these daily videos and thought it would be funny – asked me to tell it on one of these videos.

So I figured, the market’s closed, okay, okay, let’s do it.

It’s really kind of a non-story, but here it is…

First of all, you have to understand, I grew up a mile from Donald Trump.

I grew up in Queens, just like Trump (just like a lot of people, really).

I lived on 197th Street, right off Union Turnpike.

Union Turnpike was the dividing line, basically between the “right side of the tracks” and the “wrong side of the tracks.”

The Trumps lived on the other side – in Jamaica Estates.

They lived in all those big houses, and we lived in apartments – “garden apartments” they called them – in apartment buildings.

My friends and I, we were like “the Little Rascals.”

Remember the Little Rascals?

We just ran around doing all types of things, causing all kinds of trouble growing up in New York in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Of course by the ‘80s we had heard of Donald Trump…

“Real estate this… real estate that…”

But my only interaction was we used to go there trick-or-treating and I remember as a kid saying, gosh – this is what the other half lives like…

Holy mackerel… this is how rich people live.

I wanted to one day make it there – I couldn’t believe it. It was amazing to me.

Those houses were the biggest I’d ever seen. And of course we passed the Trump house.

When I started working as a teenager – really young – cash jobs at 13 but “officially” about 15, 16…

I worked at a bakery on Union Turnpike, right by St. John’s.

And Trump’s mother used to come in once a week to pick up fresh bread. Very nice lady.

She always had something nice to say, a very nice disposition and demeanor.

Fast-forward about 10 years, I’m probably 24, 25, 26…

Working on Wall Street, right after Trump bought 40 Wall St.

And a good friend I grew up with in the old neighborhood, Andrew, had become a big tech guy, a network engineer in New York.

He would run T1 cable and fiber into buildings when that was still a big thing in the ‘90s as America was getting online.

I remember one of the places he lit up, ran fiber to, was Trump Tower. And he worked in Trump Tower.

So I remember once going to visit him after work, we’re both in our 20s, a couple of young Turks about to conquer the world…

Both working in New York City in the ‘90s…

Giuliani had cleaned up the City.

My goodness – we got to watch that happen in real time.

From the ‘70s and ‘80s when New York was the murder capital of the United States, to the ‘90s when Giuliani completely changed it….

It used to be you couldn’t walk down 42nd Street in New York without seeing pimps and prostitutes and all these things.

By the mid-‘90s it was a completely different place.

I think we lost our “murder capital” title to Chicago.

Anyway, so I was going to meet Andrew after work for some drinks – of course, young Turks in our 20s – what are we going to do after work but have a couple drinks… celebrate our amazing successes.

And I went to Trump Tower and there were a whole bunch of people outside, picketing something.

People were always picketing Trump for this or that – real estate deals, building stuff, firing unions – whatever it was.

A limo pulls up as I’m trying to make my way around the crowd…

Trying to get into the building (because I’m a very important guy and I have a very important friend to meet who works in Trump Tower)…

So this limousine pulls up and Trump gets out and I hear the crowd screaming…

I happen to walk right by trying to get in past the police and security holding the picket line…

And Trump gets out.

And he flips off the crowd…

But he’s staring right at me.

He’s there like five, maybe seven feet away from me and he put a middle finger on me because he thought I was part of the crowd.

He didn’t know I was going in there to meet my friend.

So it’s kind of a silly story.

And my friend, who’s an Alliance member, he also subscribes to all kinds of newsletters out there and sees what everyone writes and talks about.

And he says, “every single person out there is talking about the time they met Trump – you have to tell them about the time Trump flipped you off.”

So there it is.

I have been to Mar a Lago. I have not met Trump. Trump never personally called me down there.

One good thing I can say is that like all of us Queens boys, Trump’s a fighter.

He never gives up.

And that’s the best compliment I ever got in my life – when somebody said, that Dylan – he’s relentless. He doesn’t stop. He never quits.

That’s a Queens thing. I think. Or just a “tough” thing.

You know what I’m talking about.

A lot of you are tough like that, too. No excuses – just keep on fighting.

Anyway, have a great Monday, President’s Day.

And hey, my team put together a President’s Day special deal on our Alliance membership.

They’ve been pushing me to raise the price. I get it – it’s been the same price since we started, and we’ve added so much value – so many products and extras just for Alliance…

Our offering has really exploded in value and we haven’t raised the price. It’s time.

But we’re giving you just this one last chance to get Alliance at the old legacy pricing if that helps you out.

Go here now to see the offer before it comes offline at 11:59pm EST Tonight.
