One of the best ways to spot opportunity is by watching what insiders do with their own money.
After all, insiders know their companies better than anyone else. And when they step in to buy after a selloff, it usually means they believe the market has gone too far.
That is the setup here.
Nike just saw buying from both CEO Elliott Hill and Apple CEO Tim Cook, who also serves as Nike’s lead independent director. Lamb Weston is seeing fresh buying from activist Jana Partners and a board director. SoFi drew insider buying after a post-earnings dip, just as Wall Street turned more constructive on the stock.
The Consumer Brand Dip-Buy
Company: Nike (SYM: NKE)
Global athletic brand now seeing insider confidence after a deep pullback.
Nike has been one of the most frustrating large-cap consumer stocks in the market.
That is exactly why the insider buying matters.
Barron’s reported that Tim Cook bought 25,000 shares of Nike at about $42.43 per share, for roughly $1.06 million. Around the same time, CEO Elliott Hill bought about 23,660 shares at roughly $42.27, also for about $1 million. Cook now holds about 130,480 shares, and the article noted this was his first open-market Nike purchase of 2026.
That does not erase Nike’s problems.
Sales expectations have weakened, the turnaround is taking longer than investors hoped, and the market has clearly lost patience. But when the lead independent director and the CEO both buy into that weakness, the message is hard to miss: leadership believes the stock is discounting too much bad news.
The Activist-and-Insider Support Story
Company: Lamb Weston Holdings (SYM: LW)
Frozen-potato leader now drawing fresh conviction from an activist fund and a company director.
Lamb Weston is not a glamorous story.
It is still getting meaningful support.
Barron’s reported that Jana Partners recently bought a total of 236,000 shares over two days in April 2026, spending about $9.7 million. The same report also said director Norman Prestage bought 2,500 shares, signaling insider confidence as the stock stays under pressure from weaker demand trends and disappointing guidance. Barron’s also noted Jana now holds about a 3.8% stake.
That is what makes LW interesting here.
This is a stock that got hit hard on operational disappointment, but activists and insiders are still stepping in. That does not guarantee a rebound. It does suggest the current quote may be understating the value of a market-leading frozen-food business going through a rough patch.
The Fintech Dip-Buy
Company: SoFi Technologies (SYM: SOFI)
Fast-growing fintech still drawing insider support after a sharp pullback.
SoFi’s insider buys are smaller, but still worth watching.
The draft’s specific purchases line up with previously reported insider activity, with management buying after a post-earnings dip. The cleaner current point is that SoFi also has improving Wall Street sentiment behind it. Barron’s previously reported that J.P. Morgan upgraded SoFi to Overweight, citing stronger member and deposit growth than many peers. The stock’s appeal remains the same: investors are being asked to decide whether this is a temporary reset or a sign the growth story is fading. Recent insider buying argues for the first view, not the second.
Bottom line:
NKE has the clearest “leadership bought the dip” signal.
LW has the biggest activist vote of confidence.
SOFI is the fintech name still drawing insider support after weakness.
