Five Strong Buy Stocks to Watch for Thursday, August 6

    Thursday, August 6, 2026

The upgrade cycle rolled into a second session on Wednesday, August 5, with Kratos Defense soaring on a Q2 double beat, Entegris extending its post-print rally on an Oppenheimer upgrade, and Prologis flipping to buy-equivalent at RBC. The July 29 FOMC held rates at 3.50%-3.75%, and CME Group's FedWatch tool still assigns roughly an 80% probability to no cuts through 2026. Oppenheimer, RBC Capital, Argus, Seaport Global, and Piper Sandler all issued Buy-equivalent upgrades on August 5. The five names below span semi materials, industrial REITs, pharma, industrial power, and defense.

Entegris (ENTG) β€” Oppenheimer flips bullish on AI-driven chip materials demand

Entegris supplies materials, filtration, and delivery systems used in semiconductor manufacturing, with growing exposure to leading-edge nodes tied to AI infrastructure. On August 5, Oppenheimer analyst Edward Yang upgraded from Perform to Outperform with a $180 target (up from $160), following the August 4 Q2 report: revenue of $883.2 million (up 11.5% YoY, 5.5% above consensus), non-GAAP EPS of $0.93 (13% beat), adjusted EBITDA of $250.7 million at 28.4% margin, and Q3 sales guidance of $905-$935 million (4.4% above Street). Needham's Charles Sebaski raised his Buy target to $170 from $165 the same day.

Shares closed at $146.86 on August 5, up 1.59% on the day, with a market cap of $22.4 billion and a trailing P/E of 45.75. The 52-week range is $67.97 to $186.94. The consensus rating is Buy, with 7 of 9 covering analysts bullish, an average target of $164.78, a median of $167, a high of $205, and a low of $95.

Risks: The stock has run more than 30% off recent lows into the print; the 2026 growth outlook assumes continued AI capex momentum; and net leverage of 3.4x, while falling, remains elevated. Goldman Sachs' James Schneider maintains Sell with a $95 target.

Prologis (PLD) β€” RBC Capital pivots to Outperform on data-center pipeline

Prologis is the largest industrial REIT globally, owning logistics real estate across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia, with a growing data-center platform. On August 5, RBC Capital analyst Michael Carroll upgraded from Sector Perform to Outperform with a $160 target (up from $148), citing the industrial recovery and data-center momentum. The upgrade follows the July 16 Q2 print: core FFO of $1.63 versus $1.60 expected, 95.5% occupancy, and raised full-year 2026 core FFO guidance to $6.22-$6.30 with development starts of $5.5-$6.5 billion.

Shares closed at $140.91 on August 5, up 1.34%, with a market cap of $131.5 billion, a trailing P/E of 25.90, and a trailing dividend yield of roughly 3%. The 52-week range is $103.41 to $153.35. The consensus rating is Buy, with 10 of 16 covering analysts bullish, an average target of $152, a median of $157, a high of $170, and a low of $130.

Risks: A slowdown in e-commerce demand or data-center leasing velocity could weigh on same-store growth; rising long rates would compress cap-rate arbitrage on acquisitions; and promote income remains lumpy. Freedom Capital Markets' Zhiger Kurmet holds Hold with a $138 target.

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) β€” Argus upgrades on turnaround signs and M&A speculation

Bristol-Myers Squibb is a diversified biopharma whose growth portfolio (Opdivo, Reblozyl, Camzyos, Cobenfy, Breyanzi) is offsetting Revlimid and Eliquis loss-of-exclusivity headwinds. On August 5, Argus analyst Jasper Hellweg upgraded from Hold to Buy with a $75 target, citing turnaround signs as growth products improve the mix, raised 2026 earnings guidance, and reported AstraZeneca M&A interest as potential upside. After the July 31 Q2 print, JP Morgan's Chris Schott raised his Overweight target to $73, and Citi's Geoff Meacham raised his Neutral target to $70.

Shares closed at $63.80 on August 5, down 3.18%, with a market cap of $130.3 billion, a trailing P/E of 10.76, and a trailing dividend yield of roughly 4%. The 52-week range is $42.52 to $68.10. The consensus rating is Buy, with 7 of 15 covering analysts bullish, an average target of $63.73, a median of $65, a high of $75, and a low of $37.

Risks: Eliquis generic entry from 2028 remains the largest revenue overhang; pipeline catalysts including admilparant readouts carry binary risk; and AstraZeneca M&A speculation is unconfirmed and could deflate quickly. Scotiabank's Louise Chen maintains Sector Perform with a $53 target.

Advanced Energy Industries (AEIS) β€” Seaport Global joins the bull camp after a Q2 beat

Advanced Energy supplies precision power-conversion, measurement, and control technologies for semiconductor equipment, data-center power, and industrial and medical markets. On August 5, Seaport Global analyst Scott Graham upgraded from Neutral to Buy with a $410 target, citing Q2 non-GAAP EPS roughly 25% above expectations, revenue topping forecasts, and accelerating data-center power exposure. On August 4, Citi's Elizabeth Sun raised her Buy target to $460 from $435, and Morgan Stanley's Shane Brett raised his Overweight target to $439 from $421.

Shares closed at $336.38 on August 5, down 1.47%, with a market cap of $12.8 billion and a trailing P/E of 39.53. The 52-week range is $128.40 to $397.44. The consensus rating is Strong Buy, with 11 of 12 covering analysts bullish, an average target of $409.50, a median of $427, a high of $535, and a low of $225.

Risks: The stock has more than doubled from late-2025 lows, leaving valuation demanding; semi capex is cyclical and vulnerable to any AI-spending pause; and data-center revenue is still ramping. Wells Fargo's Joe Quatrochi maintains Equal-Weight with a $300 target.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS) β€” Piper Sandler upgrades on hypersonics and drone visibility

Kratos develops unmanned aerial systems, hypersonic vehicles, tactical drones, satcom, and turbine engines for U.S. defense and allied customers. On August 5, Piper Sandler analyst Clarke Jeffries upgraded from Neutral to Overweight with a $75 target, citing improving visibility through the MACH-TB hypersonics program, expanding turbojet and turbofan capacity, and potential for additional tactical drone production. The upgrade followed an August 4 Q2 double beat: revenue of $458.8 million (up 30.5% YoY, 19.1% organic) versus $410.4 million consensus, and adjusted EPS of $0.21 versus $0.14. Management raised 2026 revenue guidance to $1.75-$1.81 billion; BTIG's Andre Madrid raised his Buy target to $104 from $100.

Shares closed at $55.81 on August 5, up 7.6%, with a market cap of $10.5 billion and a trailing P/E of 94.59. The 52-week range is $43.09 to $134. The consensus rating is Strong Buy, 15 of 16 analysts bullish, average target $102.44, median $102, high $134, low $75.

Risks: Q2 GAAP operating income was a $1.6 million loss and free cash flow was negative $18.9 million as growth outpaced working capital; the trailing P/E near 95 offers no cushion; and defense-program timing can shift. Cantor Fitzgerald's Colin Canfield cut his Overweight target to $100 from $115 on August 4, flagging execution risk.
