This AI Niche Could Become a $136 Billion Market - 3/22

One of the Fastest-Growing AI Markets Is Creating a $136 Billion Opportunity

Not every AI winner will wear a semiconductor badge.

Some of the next big winners may be the companies teaching machines to listen, answer, book, route, sell, and solve problems in real time. One industry forecast sees the conversational AI market growing from $12.82 billion in 2025 to $136.41 billion by 2035, as businesses shift from traditional call centers and static chat tools toward systems that can handle high volumes around the clock and increasingly take action, not just respond.

That is not just a chatbot story.

It is a labor story. A margin story. A customer-experience story.

And that is why this part of the AI boom looks so interesting right now. The growth is being driven by exactly the things companies care about most: faster responses, better personalization, more automation, and smoother service across voice, text, and multiple channels.

    The pure-play voice AI name

Company: SoundHound AI, Inc. (SYM: SOUN)
Pure-play conversational AI and voice-commerce platform with direct exposure to voice-enabled transactions.

SoundHound is currently trading around $6.93.

This is the highest-torque name in the group.

And the company keeps giving the market fresh reasons to pay attention. In late February, SoundHound reported record annual revenue of $169 million, up nearly 100%, and said it closed a record number of enterprise deals in Q4. Fourth-quarter revenue came in at $55.1 million, up 59% year over year.

That matters because SoundHound is no longer just pitching a futuristic story.

    It's landing business.

The OpenTable partnership is a good example. SoundHound said in December that it teamed up with OpenTable to launch a fully conversational in-vehicle reservations agent, allowing drivers to discover restaurants, check real-time availability, and book tables by voice through the car’s infotainment system. The service taps into OpenTable’s network of 60,000+ restaurants, and SoundHound says its conversational AI is already used by hundreds of enterprise brands and deployed in millions of cars and devices globally.

That is the bull case in one shot.

This company is not just trying to answer questions better.

It is trying to turn voice into a transaction layer.

And that gets more interesting when you look beyond one deal. SoundHound has been expanding across restaurants, automotive, retail, healthcare, and financial services, and recent company materials say it processed nearly 30 million AI customer interactions across telecom and retail businesses in 2025. It has also kept rolling out new products, including retail-focused Sales Assist in February and a new on-device multimodal Agentic+ AI platform at NVIDIA GTC this week.

Wall Street is still giving the stock room, too. MarketBeat shows an average 12-month analyst target of $14.93, while H.C. Wainwright maintained a Buy rating in March with a $20 target, even after trimming its previous objective.

That does not make it safe.

But it could make it explosive.

    The steadier enterprise AI operator

    Company: RingCentral, Inc. (SYM: RNG)
AI-powered communications and contact-center platform with real revenue, real cash flow, and expanding voice-AI adoption.

RingCentral is currently trading around $37.18.

This is a different kind of AI story.

    Less hype. More receipts.

RingCentral sits at the intersection of unified communications and contact-center software, which makes it a natural home for conversational AI inside the enterprise. In November, the company launched its new Customer Engagement Bundle for RingEX, aimed at lightweight contact-center use cases. RingCentral said the bundle adds intelligent queue management and shared SMS inbox features, and noted that more than one million users already rely on RingEX as a lightweight contact center.

That is a very useful signal.

Because it means RingCentral is not trying to create demand from scratch.

It is upgrading an installed base.

And the financials back that up. In fourth-quarter 2025 results released in February, RingCentral reported $644 million in revenue, up 5% year over year, with subscription revenue of $622 million, up 6%. Free cash flow rose to $126 million for the quarter, up 13%, while full-year 2025 free cash flow hit a record $530 million.

The AI side is starting to matter more, too.

RingCentral said AI-led products reached $100 million in ARR, and its AI Receptionist product now serves more than 8,000 customers, representing 44% sequential growth. Management also said ARR from customers using at least one monetized AI product more than doubled year over year and is now approaching 10% of overall ARR.

That makes RingCentral the steadier play in this theme.

    SoundHound is the pure-play rocket.

RingCentral is the business that already has the call flow, the customer base, and the cash generation.

The basket if you want broader AI exposure

ETF: Roundhill Generative AI & Technology ETF (SYM: CHAT)
Actively managed AI basket for investors who want broader exposure beyond one conversational-AI stock.

CHAT is currently trading around $64.50.

This is the easier answer if you like the AI boom but do not want to bet everything on one voice-AI name.

Roundhill says CHAT is the world’s first generative AI ETF, and the fund is actively managed. Its fact sheet shows a 0.75% expense ratio, about $995.2 million in assets under management, and 45 holdings. The top holdings listed on the fund page as of December 31, 2025 were Alphabet, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, and SK Hynix.

    That is an important distinction.

CHAT is not a pure conversational-AI ETF.

It is a broader AI stack ETF.

So you are not just buying the application layer. You are also buying the infrastructure, platforms, and model beneficiaries that make the whole AI ecosystem work. That includes the companies building chips, cloud capacity, enterprise software, and foundation-model distribution.

For a lot of investors, that is the smarter move.

Because even if conversational AI becomes one of the fastest-growing corners of the AI economy, the money will not all land in one stock. Some of it will go to the companies powering the models. Some of it will go to the cloud and semiconductor names. Some of it will go to application-layer companies like SoundHound and enterprise operators like RingCentral.

CHAT gives you the basket for that broader bet.

So here is the clean takeaway.

SoundHound (SYM: SOUN) gives you the highest-upside pure-play shot.

RingCentral (SYM: RNG) gives you the steadier enterprise-AI operator with stronger cash flow.

Roundhill Generative AI & Technology ETF (SYM: CHAT) gives you the diversified basket if you want AI exposure without marrying one name.

    Different tools.

    Same trend.

Conversational AI is getting bigger, more useful, and more commercial.

And if the market really does grow into a $136 billion opportunity, this may still be earlier than it looks.
