    Wall Street’s Top Pharma Pick for 2025 - 8/14

With a Yield of 3.26%, This Could Be One of the Best Pharma Stocks to Own Long-Term

In a market where investors are searching for both stability and growth, AbbVie Inc. (SYM: ABBV) stands out as a compelling choice. With a healthy dividend yield of 3.26% and a robust pipeline of treatments, this pharmaceutical giant continues to deliver strong results, making it a potential cornerstone for any long-term portfolio.

AbbVie is no stranger to leadership in the biopharma space. The company offers a portfolio of blockbuster drugs, including:

    • Humira – an injection for autoimmune and intestinal Behçet's diseases, and pyoderma gangrenosum.

    • Skyrizi – a leading treatment for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic disease, and Crohn’s disease.

    • Rinvoq – prescribed for rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, atopic dermatitis, axial spondyloarthropathy, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease.

These therapies are already major revenue drivers, but AbbVie’s growth story doesn’t end there.

    Analysts Are Taking Notice

Wall Street’s confidence in AbbVie is growing:

    • Guggenheim recently raised its price target from $216 to $227, reiterating a “Buy” rating.

    • Evercore ISI bumped its target to $207, citing the potential of AbbVie’s acquisition of Gilgamesh — a deal that could make the company a leader in the emerging psychedelics market.

    • Raymond James lifted its target from $227 to $236, maintaining an “Outperform” rating.

This kind of across-the-board analyst optimism suggests that AbbVie’s upside potential is far from fully priced in.

A Deep Pipeline for Future Growth

AbbVie is actively working on expanding its treatment portfolio, targeting lucrative and underserved markets.

One of the most anticipated developments is the company’s late-stage trial for a vitiligo treatment, expected to report results in the second half of this year. If successful, it could be the first significant new therapy for this condition in years.

Looking further ahead, AbbVie is advancing GUB014295, an amylin and calcitonin receptor agonist for obesity treatment. Early data suggest it may help reduce food intake and delay gastric emptying — potentially positioning AbbVie to compete in the fast-growing obesity drug market currently dominated by names like Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly. An early-readout is expected in 2026.

    Strong Financial Performance

AbbVie’s latest earnings report further supports its investment case:

    • Earnings per share (EPS): $2.97, beating estimates by $0.06.

    • Revenue: $15.42 billion, up 6.6% year-over-year and $390 million ahead of expectations.

    • Skyrizi sales: $4.4 billion, up 61.8% year-over-year.

    • Rinvoq sales: $2 billion, up 41.2% year-over-year.

Management also raised its full-year revenue guidance by $800 million to $60.5 billion and increased its adjusted EPS forecast by $0.21 to a range of $11.88 to $12.08.

CEO Robert A. Michael summed it up well:

“AbbVie delivered another outstanding quarter with strong performance from our diversified growth platform. We also made meaningful pipeline progress… We’re entering the second half of the year with substantial momentum and are once again raising our full-year outlook.”

    A Dividend Growth Machine

For income-focused investors, AbbVie’s dividend track record is hard to ignore. Since its spin-off from Abbott Laboratories in 2013, the company has raised its dividend by more than 310%. The current yield of 3.26% is well above the S&P 500 average and backed by strong cash flow, suggesting further increases are likely.

    Valuation Remains Attractive

Despite its strong performance, AbbVie’s valuation still appears reasonable. With a forward P/E ratio below that of many biotech peers and a robust drug pipeline, the stock offers both income and growth potential at a fair price.

For investors seeking stability in a sometimes volatile market, AbbVie’s combination of established revenue streams, innovative new drug development, and reliable dividend growth makes it a rare find.

Bonus: Chart of the Day – AMD Aiming for $200

Advanced Micro Devices (SYM: AMD) remains one of our favorite tech growth plays. Now trading at $174.95, we believe the stock has the potential to hit $200 in the near term.

Helping drive this view, Benchmark reiterated its “Buy” rating and boosted its price target from $170 to $210 after the company posted strong quarterly results:

    • Revenue: $7.685 billion, up 32% year-over-year and $270 million above expectations.

    • Guidance: Q3 revenue of $8.7 billion, representing 28% year-over-year growth and well ahead of analyst estimates.

Beyond short-term gains, AMD is positioned to capitalize on the booming AI data center market, which CEO Lisa Su estimates will reach $500 billion by 2028 — up from her prior forecast of $400 billion by 2027.

If that growth materializes, AMD could remain one of the most powerful secular growth stories in the market.
